How we work

How we work

Argon Compass is built around a set of working principles that shape every explanation we write and every decision we make about how the service operates. We do not list named individuals here — what matters is the approach, and the values that guide it.

CL

Content and Language

Plain-language editorial standards

Every piece of content produced by Argon Compass passes through a rigorous plain-language review. This means checking not just that technical terms are explained, but that the overall structure of an explanation is logical, that no assumption is made about prior knowledge, and that the tone remains consistently calm and respectful. We hold ourselves to the standard of a knowledgeable friend speaking honestly — never a textbook, never a sales brochure.

UK

UK Relevance

Contextual accuracy for the UK

All content is grounded in the specific structures, regulations and conventions of personal finance in the United Kingdom. This includes UK tax law, UK pension regulation, UK mortgage conventions, UK consumer credit rules, and the UK regulatory framework overseen by the Financial Conduct Authority. Generic or internationally sourced information is never presented as applicable to a UK audience without careful review and adaptation.

IA

Impartiality Assurance

Independence and balance

Argon Compass maintains a strict separation from any commercial interest in the financial products or services it describes. This principle is reviewed continuously: no referral arrangements, no sponsored content, and no framing that could be construed as a recommendation or endorsement. Where a topic has multiple legitimate perspectives, all are presented. Where something is genuinely uncertain or subject to individual circumstances, that uncertainty is stated clearly.

DP

Data and Privacy

User privacy and data responsibility

The privacy of every person who uses Argon Compass is treated as a fundamental responsibility, not a compliance exercise. Data handling practices are designed to be transparent, proportionate and fully consistent with UK data protection law, including the UK GDPR. We collect only what is necessary, explain clearly how it is used, and make it straightforward for users to understand and exercise their rights.
